Pediatric Cancer Awareness Campaign

Pediatric Cancer Awareness Campaign

Each and every day, people and families are walking difficult journeys that we may not know or be able to understand. While we can all relate to facing our own valleys throughout life, what they look like and the depths will differ…

Here at Compassion Packed, we want to be able to support individuals and families walking all kinds of paths and in order to do that well, we need to partner with you. The ones who have walked the paths that we have not. Yes, we know illness and pain and loss— but that doesn’t mean we understand it all or in the same way other people do.

For the month of September, we wanted to acknowledge and support those touched by pediatric cancer. To do so, we connected with a local family whose lives were forever changed by pediatric cancer. We have dedicated our pediatric cancer box and September Campaign in their daughter's honor, Faith Perry.

When it came to selecting items for this gift box, we turned to the Perry Family for guidance-- while many incredible organizations like Ca's Angels often donate care and comfort essentials for families navigating childhood cancer, The Perry's wanted to design a gift that could be light and uplifting during an otherwise dark time. This is how the 'Faith Over Fear' box was thoughtfully curated offering the same joy & light that Faith gifted to this world.

During our Pediatric Cancer Campaign, we will be collecting donations/sponsorships towards our Faith Over Fear gift boxes in order to donate them to oncology patients at our local children's hospital in Faith's memory. All proceeds of these donations will go directly towards supporting children currently fighting childhood cancer. You can select a monetary amount to donate towards a box or sponsor the full cost of one child's box at $40.

We will keep our campaign running from August through the end of September, at that time all donated/sponsored boxes will be delivered to Advocate Children's Hospital to be distributed into the hands of current oncology patients. These boxes will include a linen notebook, therapy putty, kid's affirmation card deck, stellar pretzels, sweeter cards chocolate bar, and Bluey stickers (Faith's favorite).

We are also committed to bring Partners in Gold with Cal's Angels and they are generously donating a sticker and a Cal's Angel pen to each of our donated boxes.

We also want to thank Stellar Snacks and Portage Notebooks for offering their products included in our gift boxes at a discounted rate allowing us to maximize our donations.

We wanted to ensure that everyone had a way to participate in supporting children and families this September, so for our campaign we will also be hosting a card collection and toy drive.

We are kicking off the month of September with a local Card Making Event where the community can come together to acknowledge and support the pediatric cancer community. This event will be hosted by Compassion Packed and The Perry Family at New Lenox Public Library on September 7th

Unable to attend our card event? We hope you will still participate— near or far! The card collection is an excellent way to raise awareness and open the discussion of pediatric cancer with your family, workplace, church, sports team and beyond. Gather your organization or your friends, grab your craft supplies, and piece together some greeting cards for oncology patients at Advocate Children’s— they will be sure to offer a smile.

Guidelines for Greeting Cards that can be distributed at the hospital can be found here:

Greeting cards will be collected through the end of September and will be delivered to the hospital with our gift boxes. You can mail all cards to:

We also invite you to donate a toy to Advocate Children’s Oncology Unit. All donated toys must be purchased through our Amazon Wishlist. This wishlist was compiled by the Oncology Unit’s Child Life Specialists with items that they can use to support patients of all ages and developmental needs. These items will also be collected through the end of September and delivered to the hospital with the rest of the gift boxes and cards.

To recap we are offering FOUR ways for you to participate in our campaign for Pediatric Cancer Awareness month:

  1. Donate towards or Sponsor a Faith Over Fear Box for a patient
  2. Create a greeting card for a patient
  3. Donate a toy for the oncology unit
  4. SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!

That’s right, one of the most powerful ways to participate in our campaign and support families fighting pediatric cancer is to SHARE! We hope to overwhelm our local hospital and the children with gift boxes, cards and toys this Fall and that is only possible with your help. The further we can spread this campaign, the more we will be able to give back.

And, if you have made it this far, we want to offer you a huge thank you!! Thank you on behalf of Compassion Packed, The Perry Family, and all families impacted by pediatric cancer. Your willingness to raise awareness, offer support, and give generously towards a cause that may not even personally affect you, speaks volumes. We are thrilled to be able to fill the hands of patients with cards and gift boxes that will offer them joy + light among some of their darkest days— and that would not be possible without YOU. We know your efforts will be greatly appreciated by all the children and families that we are able to reach. Now, let’s get started!

 XOXOX,

K & K
